Design Services for Dental Labs — Integra Dental Milling

CAD design for dental labs.
STL delivery or full
design and manufacture.

Integra Dental provides design services to dental laboratories on a lab-to-lab basis. Send a scan, receive a finalized design file to mill yourself — or have Integra Dental design, mill, and sinter the restoration and return it under your brand. Two service models. Peer-to-peer pricing. Unbranded packaging.

Two Service Models

Design file only, or design through to finished restoration.

Integra Dental serves labs that have their own milling equipment but need design support, and labs that want a full production partner for overflow or complex cases. Both services operate on a lab-to-lab basis — peer-to-peer, technician-to-technician, with pricing and file standards that reflect a professional production relationship rather than a consumer service.

Service Model 1

Design Only

Send a scan and prescription. Integra Dental designs the restoration on 3Shape to your specifications and delivers a finalized STL or construction file. You mill it on your own equipment. Faster turnaround than full manufacture. Suitable for labs with in-house milling capacity that need design throughput, design expertise on complex cases, or coverage during staff shortages.

What you send: Intraoral or model scan, shade, case type, margin preferences, emergence profile notes, occlusal contact preferences, any prosthetic design parameters your lab uses as standard.

What you receive: Finalized STL or 3Shape construction file, designed to your specifications and ready for your CAM software. Margin verification and emergence profile review included. Design confirmed before delivery — revision available if the design does not meet your specifications.

Pricing: Contact us for lab design pricing. Rates differ from doctor-facing services and are based on case type and volume.

Service Model 2

Design + Manufacture

Send a scan and prescription. Integra Dental designs, mills, sinters, and returns the finished restoration under your brand. Identical to the standard lab-to-lab milling service but with the design step included. Suitable for overflow volume, complex cases, full-arch outsourcing, or labs without in-house milling capacity for specific case types.

What you send: Intraoral or model scan, shade, case type, and any design parameters specific to your lab’s standard. Implant system and connection type for implant cases.

What you receive: A finished, sintered restoration — stained and glazed on zirconia cases — returned to you via FedEx or UPS with tracking. No branding from Integra Dental. Your case returns unbranded — we don’t touch your doctor relationship. Your client relationship is entirely intact.

Pricing: Zirconia crown $60/unit (includes design, mill, sinter). Full-arch $600/arch standard. Angled screw channel and complex cases — contact us.

Design Standards

Designed to clinical parameters, not default software values.

Every design is produced by a certified CAD/CAM specialist on 3Shape with full restorative and implant software. Design parameters are set to clinical standards, not software defaults. If your lab has specific design preferences — contact point strength, occlusal reduction targets, emergence profile geometry, margin offset — those preferences are applied consistently to every case once established.

For implant cases, the implant library must be confirmed before the first case. Scanbody compatibility is verified prior to submission. Emergence profile geometry and screw channel axis are reviewed before design delivery for implant restorations.

File formats accepted

.STL from any scanner, .DCM (3Shape native), 3Shape Communicate case transfer, or most digital impression exports. Physical model scanning available if you can ship the model — contact us first to confirm.

Design file output

Finalized design delivered as .STL or 3Shape construction file depending on your CAM software. Specify your CAM environment when submitting and we will confirm compatibility before starting the case.

What to include with your case submission

Scan files, tooth number, restoration type, shade, material (if you have a preference), margin verification (if pre-marked in your scanner software), emergence profile notes for implant cases, implant system and connection type for implant restorations, and any design preferences that differ from standard anatomical defaults.

Turnaround

Design-only cases are typically returned within one to two business days depending on case complexity and queue. Design + manufacture cases follow the standard five-day production turnaround from confirmed digital file. Confirmed at submission.
